Argentina Metals Corp. (TSXV: VLLC | FSE: VA5) has entered the public markets with a straightforward thesis: copper demand is accelerating while large areas of Argentina’s Andes remain remarkably underexplored.
In a recent InvestorNews interview, I spoke with CEO and Director Raymond Harari about the company’s new TSX Venture listing and its decision to focus on Mendoza, a province bordering Chile’s prolific copper-producing region.
Argentina Metals has assembled approximately 146,700 hectares across 26 copper projects. The projects are 100%-owned without private royalties, net smelter returns, back-in rights or earn-in obligations, apart from royalties payable to Mendoza Province.
Harari believes Argentina’s changing political and investment environment, combined with Mendoza’s limited modern exploration, has created an unusual opportunity to establish a substantial land position before a major discovery potentially transforms regional valuations.
The urgency behind that strategy became clearest when our discussion turned to artificial intelligence, electrification and the pressure they are placing on future copper supplies.
“I think the amount of copper we’re going to have to mine over the next 10 or 20 years to satisfy the AI boom and electrification movement is going to be unprecedented,” Harari said. “I don’t think any of us want to give up our ChatGPT or Claude. So, we better get to work.”
Argentina Metals is still at an early stage, and exploration will ultimately determine the value of its portfolio. Its strategy, however, is clear: secure a broad position in Mendoza while the ground remains comparatively inexpensive—and begin searching for the copper deposits that an increasingly electrified world may require.
