(NYSE American: AUST), detailed the company’s exploration activities focused on significant gold deposits in the southwestern United States. Austin Gold is committed to discovering substantial gold deposits through its portfolio, which includes the Kelly Creek Project on the Battle Mountain-Eureka gold trend in Humboldt County, Nevada, the Lone Mountain Project on the Independence-Jerritt Canyon gold trend in Elko County, Nevada, and the Stockade Mountain Project in Malheur County, Oregon. Each project is strategically located in highly prospective geological environments known for significant gold mineralization. Austin Gold’s recent activities include a substantial soil and stream sediment sampling program at Lone Mountain and plans to advance its exploration at Stockade Mountain, supported by a recent extension of its option to joint venture agreement on the Kelly Creek Project.
Higgs recounted an amusing incident at the Lone Mountain Project involving a long-forgotten shed containing valuable historical data. He highlighted the geological significance of the Lone Mountain area, emphasizing its proximity to the Carlin Trend and its lower plate window structure, which is crucial for hosting large gold deposits. “Having a lower plate window is very important,” Higgs noted, explaining that these geological formations are where substantial gold deposits are typically found. He detailed the comprehensive surface work planned for Lone Mountain, including over 2,000 soil samples and stream sediment sampling, aimed at refining exploration targets for drilling later this year.
Discussing the Stockade Mountain Project, Higgs elaborated on the shattered glass stockwork system, which resembles a network of cracks filled with gold values. The project’s history of significant exploration work by major mining companies in the 1980s and 1990s left promising leads for Austin Gold to follow. Higgs shared that recent drilling results have shown significant gold grades, with intercepts such as 9.32 grams per tonne over 2.7 feet. “This system is very robust and contains very significant gold values,” he stated, underscoring the potential for high-grade vein deposits deeper in the hydrothermal system.
